Meditation
Everything happens for a reason, and I'm so glad that I was able to witness the pleasure of meditation for the 1st time in my 18 years of life so far.
Like most people who just started meditating,we either do it the wrong way or lose our concentration halfway.I was no different. After reading how to do breathing meditation, the basic and most widely-used method of meditation 5 months ago,it took me until today to realize how does entering a state of meditation feels like.
Meditating while chanting the "The Three Refuges" Pali Chanting,I initially thought that I'll break out maybe like 10 minutes into the chant as most.Yet that was not to be.By closing my eyes and thinking of nothing but the Pali Chant,I soon got "hypnotized".I couldn't think about the upcoming important JLPT III exam.I couldn't think about my AI assignment that's due in 2 days.As a matter of fact I couldn't think about anything. Not even time itself. The repetitive 3 lines-chanting of "The Three Refuges" Pali Chanting was everything and the only thing in my mind.
The chant ended which shook me up unexpectedly.I had actually meditated though the entire chant which lasted 48 mins. With a clearer mind and a clearer heart.
"I go to the Buddha as my Refuge"
"I go to the Dhamma as my Refuge"
"I go to the Sangha as my Refuge"
These three lines of the "The Three Refuges" Pali Chanting.Showed me why Zen is particularly attractive for ancient Japanese samurais. The ability to rid your mind from thinking just about everything and to focus on one and one thing only.
Amazing.
